Thermal and/or sound insulation is provided by an insulation member which contains dried paper pulp or paper slurry together with at least one vegetable product.The vegetable product is preferably derived from tree bark. Also claimed is a process for manufacture of an insulation member from paper torn up and formed into a pulp in liquid or paper sludge from paper manufacture, to which the vegetable product is added before the material is converted to the required form and dried. Preferably, the paper is waste paper, softened for e.g. 30 minutes in water.
