The mixer base for a food grinder has a tubular guard (10) whose upper part (12) is mounted on a motor unit (14). Its lower part comprises a bell (18) having a side wall (20) and an opening (22) formed by the side wall lower edge. Its top (24) is passed through by a rotating shaft (26) whose upper end is coupled to the motor unit. The shaft lower end rotates with the mixing tool (28) in the bell. The bell has a cover (32) which closes the opening and has a removable fastener (34) to its side wall. The cover edge (36) has a shape complementary to that of the side wall lower region and the fastener is on this edge and comprises bosses (38) which are supported against the opening lower region.
