Connection of electrode plates to terminal of electrochemical generator e.g. used in electric vehicle

The electrode plates (8) are connected to the terminal (1) of a battery by expansion. The tops (7) of the plates are brought out vertically and grouped into two bundles, which are folded through a right angle so they connect horizontally to the base of the terminal. The folding is done with the aid of a grid of bars that fit between the electrode plates and are shaped to ensure each plate top is positioned correctly relative to the others when they have been folded through a right angle. The tops are then cut to length and pressed together for insertion into horizontal slots in the base of the terminal.
