The lens has an optic and a haptic. The haptic sections (11) and optical sections (21) are two distinct components to be introduced into the eye one after the other for assembly in situ. The assembly formations (13-22,33-42,72-73) are provided for assembly of the optic sections and haptic sections. The haptic section can be formed by a ring of semi-rigid material to receive the optic part and enclose the latter. The ring can be a split ring.
