The procedure consists of taking a panel of a polycarbonate material such as 'Lexan' (RTM), 10-12 mm thick and its width reduced by up to 30 mm for 400 mm of its length. The two ends of the panel are machined to make them round, and it is then placed in a mould of plaster, steel or similar material and heated to give it the required upper and lower surface shape. The mould is designed to produce a ski or board with an under surface which is slightly concave in the middle and has upswept ends, and once the shaped panel has been placed in it the mould is heated at a constant temperature which a pressure is applied to the middle and ends of the panel. Once the panel has cooled it is set in the required shape.
