The system fitted to a machine with rotary cylindrical rollers (1) has two wheels (8,9) movable with respect to stationary parts (2,3) of the compacting roller. The amplitude of vibration varies with the phasing of the wheels from zero to a given value. Satellite eccentric weights are carried on flanges (10,11) forming a cage and driven by a motor (27) and gearing (25,26,28). The fixed parts of the compacting roller are isolated from the vibrating elements by elastic mountings (19,22).
