A side mirror can provide the driver with a view on the next-to-the-driver side of a bonnet that can be a blind spot when viewed from the driver's seat of the vehicle as a view seen from the rear to the front of the vehicle via a door mirror or a fender mirror which is partially substituted by a flat mirror and also can be stored in or taken out of the body of the vehicle by operating a switch provided in the vicinity of the driver's seat. To obtain a function like this, provided in the vicinity of the driver's seat and a side portion on the next-to-the-driver side of the vehicle body are, respectively, a rotary gate switch and a rotatable body having a mirror as a side mirror fixed thereon, and a linked operation between the switch and mirror is established. This side mirror is stored and locked in the side portion of the vehicle body when not in use. The rotary switch may only be pressed when the side mirror is taken out or stored. In addition, it is designed such that a beep is emitted when the side mirror is in use so as to prevent the mirror from being left extended.
