Process for preparing composite of borides and carbides is composed of i)making a pellet by mixing titanium dioxide, boron oxide and carbon, ii)puting the pellet into an electric furnace followed by reacting at above 1473 K in argon gas atmosphere for 24 hr, iii)cooling composite in nitrogen gas atmosphere. For an example, titanium dioxide, boron oxide, and carbon are mixed to give a pellet, which is reacted in a graphite furnace or alumina furnace and cooled rapidly.
