Kit for treatment of silicones and other plastics impaired by mould growth

A kit for treating polymeric materials, especially silicones, which have been impaired by mould growth, comprises two separate components, (A) a stabilised 3-15 wt.% aqueous solution of peracetic acid and (B) a mixture of 0.5-5 parts wt. (per 100 parts wt. (A)) of a thickening agent based on a water soluble cellulose derivative and optionally an inorganic base in an amount which establishes a pH of 1-8 (4.5-7.5) in the mixture of (A) and (B), the components (A) and (B) being mixed together in a predetermined ratio prior to use.
