The method involves using a conducting track temp. sensor (6) associated with a cooking position (4). The resistance of the sensor is measured at a first operating temp. as a first reference resistance and at a different temp. as a second reference resistance. The temp. (T) of the sensor resistance (R) is derived from the two reference resistance values (R1,R2) and the associated temp. values (T1,T2) by T = T1+(R-R1)*(T2-T1)/(R2-R1).
