摘要 The outer and inner layers (16) of the heavy metal foil (14,16) are pulled axially in opposing directions (24,26) so as to reduce the diameter of the coil (12), and the inner layer is pulled axially onto the penetrator core (10). The tension is applied to the coil after coiling operation. During and-or after the applied tension, the outermost coil layer is taken up tight by twisting this layer relative the penetrator core. The coil should be fixed in place by adhesive applied to the foil end removed from the core on the side facing the coil. The coil is wound onto the core so the end (18) protrudes to be gripped by tools (20,22) at opposed ends of the coil for the tension stage. In a variant for a rotating core and coil, the same opposed tensile forces are applied by end tools etc. The end adhesive is wrapped round to locate the coil on the core.
