The sorting device consists of a membrane (3), which is excited periodically with variable amplitude and/or frequency. The membrane forms the base of a vessel (2), and a separator device (5,6,8) is located above the vessel to separate particle fractions, which move in orbits of different heights. The separator device is operated by mechanical, pneumatic, or electrostatic elements or a combination thereof. It is formed by a sideward air jet (5), a separator (6), and a separate collection container (8). The air jet passes over the top edge of the vessel towards the separator, so that each particle fraction passes into the separator and then into collection container.
