The heater has a burner plate (24) which is provided with outlets (26) for a mixture of air and burner-gas. The combustion chamber (28) consists of walls, a heat-transmitter (16) and the burner (14). Openings (36) between at least one combustion chamber wall (30,32,34) and the burner are positioned in the areas next to the outlet part of the fuel gas-air mixture. On or in the openings are flow-obstacles (38,40,42,44) which together with the openings, form a labyrinth cover. Each of the flow-obstacles is positioned between the side wall of the combustion chamber and the burner.
