Extrinsic power parameter determination method for energy conversion appliance

The method involves continuous determination of a parameter which is dependent on operational conditions, an intrinsic quantity, e.g. pressure, pressure difference, temperature or temperature difference. The power parameter is determined from the value of this quantity and/or the value of the power consumed or delivered based on characteristic curves of the appliance in respect of these. The power characteristic of the appliance is monitored by checking the values, quantities and power against the characteristics. In a calibration step the characteristic curves for a number of operational conditions can be derived by measuring the intrinsic quantities and the power consumed or delivered plotted against a further quantity e.g. pressure or temperature.
