The connector (1) has a secondary latching mechanism that consists of a handle (2) for filling slots (3a, 3b) into each of which a tongue (4a, 4b) with a latch (5a, 5b) is inserted. The handle engages a plug part (21) in a first position in which the slots are not filled by the two arms on the handle, and can be moved to a second position in which the arms are pressed into the slots (3a, 3b) and locked in this position. The connector has a lateral cable outlet which has a two part clamping device that firmly clamps the cable at the outlet of the casing. In the final latched position the handle (2) along with the locking slide (30) can be pressed down so that its surface is flush with the casing lid surface.
