Preparation of oligomeric alkyl- and/or alkenyl-oligoglycoside carbonates (I) comprises auto-condensation of monomeric alkyl- and/or alkenyl-oligoglycoside carbonates (II) in the presence of base and continuous removal of the resultant alcohol and dialkyl carbonate from the reaction equilibrium.
