The single-chamber coking reactor is top-charged and horizontally-pushed, and comprises heated side walls, cover and base, with a pair of coke oven doors. The side walls have thermally-insulated side restraint. The reactor is slender, with a width-to-height ratio of less than or equal to 0.07.
