Preparation of brown coal for gasification and combustion in power generation

Brown coal is prepared by size-reducing and dried for use in a boiler and/or a gasification reactor, ultimately to generate electricity. The coal is first size reduced to a mean grading (d50) of 1.0 mm at most. It is then dried in a fluidised bed to a maximum water content of 25%.
