A security device (2, 25) for the purpose of protecting against unauthorized reconnection of an electric plug (1, 24), which renders more difficult or prevents any manipulation of the plug (1, 24) for the purpose of bypassing an immobiliser for a motor vehicle. To this end the security device (2) comprises a device, for the purpose of deactivating the contacts (12), which functions in either a purely mechanical manner or by means of a short-circuit spring (29). In the case of the first referred embodiment the contacts (12) collapse in an irreversible manner within an expanded housing (15) when a counterpart (7) is released (as shown) from a plug (5) and in the second embodiment a short-circuit of the contacts (27,28) by spring (29) is produced which cannot be removed by unauthorized persons. The use of a lock (43, figure 7, not shown) is also proposed, by means of which authorized persons are able to gain access to the security device without triggering the effect of the security device.
