A fastening device (10), which will facilitate the assembly of associated pieces or manufactured articles, features a structurally beneficial assembly element including a conductive target material (12), integrated with the assembly element, for absorbing electromagnetic waves and converting wave energy to heat; and a solid adhesive material (11), contiguous with the conductive target material, which will become adhesively active and effect the adherence of the associated pieces upon exposure to heat resulting from the electromagnetic waves absorbed and converted to heat by the target material.
