摘要 |
The invention concerns a continuous casting plant for billets, in particular of steel, with a melt-delivery vessel from which the melt is delivered to a stationary mould, and with rollers which are arranged downstream of the mould in the casting direction and, until the ingot has thoroughly hardened, reduce its cross-sectional area by means of support devices acting on the ingot so as to shape it, such that, whilst substantially retaining its peripheral length, the ingot is shaped to form a polygonal cross-sectional shape with a minimum of four corners. According to the invention, the cross-sectional area at least in the inlet region of the mould (41) has a polygonal, oval to circular contour, the periphery of this cross-sectional area being less than 640 mm, corresponding to a squared billet format with an edge length a </= 160 mm. An immersion tube (31 or 35), which is connected to the melt-delivery vessel (10) and whose outer edges (34) are disposed equidistant relative to the inner surface of the mould (41), projects into the latter.
