An agent for oxidative dyeing of keratin fibres is based on a combination of (i) a 4-amino-5-hydroxypyrazole compound of formula (I) or its salt; and (ii) a coupler. R = H, 1-4 C alkyl, 2-4 C hydroxyalkyl, phenyl or benzyl (both optionally substituted by 1-4 C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy or halo). (I) are new, providing R is not H.
