A spring clip or peg which acts symmetrically has a pair of jaw elements which, interchangeably, make lasting clamp contact with each other via jaws held together by elastic devices applied to the elements, where force applied at one of two ends releases jaws at the other. The elastic elements deform reversibly and store potential energy, so when the applied force applied to one of the ends is removed the lasting clamp contact is restored at the other. The first end part and the second end part are fixed at opposite clip ends and each of these end parts has a jaw (10, 10'), lever and lever pivot (22, 22', 24, 24') so the jaw elements can reversibly turn or deform under the action of a suitable force. Also claimed is an, almost conventional, spring clip where a pair of jaw elements have jaws which act from both sides. Force is applied to one end to release the jaws at the other and the elastic element returns the jaws to the original clamping position when the force is removed .
