A controlled volume liquid filling apparatus of the present invention has hopper for holding a liquid to be dispensed into bottles, and a dosing housing having a dosing chamber for measuring and dispensing a predetermined volume of the liquid into the bottle. The dosing housing includes valves for controlling the flow of liquid into and out of the housing. An engagement mechanism is provided to lift bottles into contact with the dosing housing. The engagement mechanism has adjustable force parameters so that the bottle can be simply brought into contact with the dosing housing and pressurized by a gas, and so that the bottle can be forced upwardly sufficiently to open the valve which controls liquid flow out of the dosing chamber. The engagement mechanism and the valves which control fluid flow are all operated by pneumatic distributors which typically move with the dosing housing about a circular path. The distributors have fingers which slide therein to control the pneumatic pressure, and are preferably actuated by a plurality of camming plates which engage the fingers as the distributors move along a circular path.
