Method and device for folding a label

To fold a section (10) of a label (1), it is fed to the convex surface of the upstream end of a leading section (30A) of the shaping rail (30) at the end of a drum, with its edge (31) towards the drum and parallel to the folding line (12). As the label section (10) is advanced, a folding action is started against a tapered surface (34) at the convex surface. It passes over the rail edge of the shaper (32) towards the concave surface (36) of a second rail section (30B), towards the drum. The forwards movement brings the folded label end (10) against a further bevelled surface (36) in a taper, to fold it back against the adjacent label section (11). A guide system holds the label during the folding operation.
