Receiving element for use in thermal dye transfer

A receiving element for thermal dye transfer comprises a base bearing a dye receiving layer. The base comprises a composite film (CF) laminated to a support, (CF) being on the side coated with the dye layer and comprising a microvoided thermoplastic core layer (1) and at least one substantially void-free thermoplastic surface layer (2) of thickness 3-6 microns. The novelty is that (2) contains at least 0.5g/n2 TiO2. Also claimed are a process of forming a dye transfer image and a thermal dye transfer assemblage (donor + receiver) in which the receiver element is of the invention.
