<p>A slave cylinder (10) having a piston (11) axially displaceable relative to a cylinder wall (14, 15) to operate an associated device. The cylinder wall has an axially fixed portion (14) and a telescoping axially moveable portion (15), the piston being in sealed sliding contact with the axially moveable portion via a first sealing means (16). The axially moveable portion of the cylinder wall is in sealed sliding contact with the axially fixed portion via second sealing means (20). Holding means (20, 20') hold the axially moveable portion (15) against axial displacement relative to the fixed portion (14), due to movement of the piston relative to the moveable portion, and abutment (18a) operatively connected with the piston contacts a corresponding abutment (15b) operatively connected with the moveable cylinder wall portion (15) to move said moveable portion relative to the fixed portion to adjust the effective length of the cylinder wall.</p> |
