[Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In making a selenium element, such as a rectifier, selenium powder is pressed against a base-plate, the temperature of the carrier plate being maintained higher than that of the selenium surface, during the compression. This may be effected, for example, by keeping that platen of a press that is in contact with the selenium at a temperature of 20‹ C. to 110‹ C., while the temperature of the platen that is in contact with the base-plate is kept at 110‹ C. to 220‹ C., at a pressure of about 4000 lbs. per sq. in.</p> |
