The sub-assembly for a clutch thrust bearing (3) with outer rotary (11) and inner fixed (12) rings, and balls (13) between them, has an inner sheet metal ring (10) with a radial portion (10a) in contact with the radial portion of the fixed ring (12), and a cylindrical portion (10b) connected to the inner end of the radial portion and has a radial rim (10c) on its free end. The assembly also incorporates a ring (19) which is elastic in an axial direction and has elastic tongues round its inner edge which are able to flex to allow it to be fitted to the sheet metal ring (10). The elastic ring presses the radial portion of the bearing's fixed ring (12) against the radial portion of the sheet metal ring (10), and is retained by the latter's radial rim (10c).
