PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new nucleic acid for primer, etc., containing a nucleic acid sequence comprising continued bases having specific numbers among specific nucleic acid sequences and a promoter sequence and capable of rapidly, simply and specifically proliferating and detecting cytomegalovirus in a high selectivity. SOLUTION: This new oligonucleotide is used for proliferating a nucleic acid of cytomegalovirus(CMV) is obtained by utilizing a nucleic acid sequence (β2.7) containing a nucleic acid sequence comprising at least 15 bases among nucleic acid sequences described in an arrangement table of the formula and is useful as a primer, etc., capable of simply, rapidly and specifically detecting CMV by nucleic acid sequence-based amplification (NASBA), etc., in a high sensitivity. The oligonucleotide is obtained by chemically synthesizing a sequence complementary to mRNA of CMV by phosphoamidate method, allowing the resultant oligonucleotide to stand one night at 55 deg.C in ammonia water to deprotect the oligonucleotide and purifying the oligonucleotide with a reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography.
