PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep a backlash between a side gear and a pinion gear at a proper value and to improve an engaging state and durability by providing a shim to regulate the backlash between the side gear and a pinion gear to a given value through a conical clutch for regulation of thickness. SOLUTION: Conical clutches 35 and 37 are fastened with each other through a reaction force of engagement with a pinion gear 27 exerted on side gears 29 and 31 during transmission of torque, and a differential limit is provided through frictional resistance thereof. Further, since a differential case 3 is division structure consisting of a plurality of casing members 5 and 7, in such a way that a shim 13 is arranged therebetween and thickness is changed, proper regulation of a backlash of the side gears 29 and 31 and the pinion gear 27 is performed simultaneously with proper regulation of a clearance between conical surfaces 39 and 43 on the differential case 3 side and conical surfaces 41 and 45 on the side gears 29 and 31 side. This constitution provides a differential limit and keeps a backlash at a proper value.
