PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a chip of a print dot or an unevenness in density from being produced due to a void on the surface of a ceramic substrate. SOLUTION: Two or more heating resistors 2 and a pair of electrodes 3 are attached on the downside of a ceramic substrate 1 of a thermal head, and printing is carried out while a heat-sensitive recording medium P comes in contact with and rubs against the upside of the substrate 1. Two or more metallic dots 6 are arranged in areas H on the upside of the ceramic substrate 1 right above the heating resistors 2 and the surfaces of the metallic dots 6 are level with the upside of the ceramic substrate 1 or protrudes 40μm or less from the upside of the substrate 1, so that heat from the heating resistors 2 is transferred to the heat-sensitive recording medium P that travels on the metallic dots 6 when printing is performed.
