PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pretensioner by which a device can be miniaturized, breakage due to impactive gearing between a pinion gear and a rack can be prevented, and a sufficient stroke for an energy absorbing mechanism can be secured. SOLUTION: In a pretensioner 3, a pinion gear 21, which can be rotated interlockingly with a winding shaft of a retractor in the case of emergency, is rotated by means of a rack 25 pressingly driven by means of a gas pressure, and the winding shaft is rotated in the deflection eliminating direction for a seat belt. A gearing releasing mechanism 7, which releases gearing between the rack 25 and the pinion gear 21 when the pinion gear 21 is rotated reversely by means of tension of the seat belt and the rack 25 is returned to the initial position after the rack 25 is pressingly operated, is installed, so that sufficient extension of a belt can be secured. |
