PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a processing time short to such a degree that practical satisfaction can be obtained, to reduce noise and to obtain an image of high quality by specifying a heating temp., temperate accuracy in a width direction and a developing time, for executing development, in an image recording method capable of recording a medical image on a heat developable photosensitive material and developing it, so as to obtain a multi-level medical image. SOLUTION: In the image recording method capable of recording the medical image on the heat developable photosensitive material and developing it so as to obtain the multi-level medical image, the development is attained on conditions where the heating temp. is 120 deg.C+10 deg.C, the temperature accuracy in the width direction is±3 deg.C and the developing time is 5-30 seconds. It is preferable that the temperature accuracy in the width direction is±1 deg.C and the heating temp. is controlled with the temperature accuracy of±0.1 deg.C. At this time, as the control of the heating temp., control for stabilizing temp. timewise is executed. Therefore, image quality can be stabilized in the carrying direction of the image, that is, in a longitudinal direction by the control. Moreover, it is further preferable that the developing time is made about 10-20 seconds.
