PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain a safe and inexpensive anti-thrombogenic medical material usable for a medical tool such as artificial organs, cannula, catheter, etc., by coating a substrate having a hydrophobic surface with a specific anti- thrombogenic physiologically active substance. SOLUTION: A part of an anti-thrombogenic physiologically active substance is chemically modified with a hydrophobic group. The anti-thrombogenic physiologically active substance is preferably albumin or thrombomodulin. The hydrophobic group is preferably a 6-22C aliphatic hydrocarbon-based hydrophobic group. The hydrophobic anti-thrombogenic physiologically active substance produced by the modification is applied to the hydrophobic surface of a substrate having a hydrophobic surface on at least a part of the whole surface. The anti-thrombogenic medical material does not cause the coagulation of blood to form a thrombus. The material keeps excellent anti-thrombogenic property over a long period. The anti-thrombogenic medical tool is e.g. artificial heart, artificial heart and lung, artificial kidney, artificial liver, artificial valve and blood circuit. |
