A driver manipulates a change lever and a shift rod(1) makes a linear movement when a fixed selector(5) moves. A ball gives pressure on a spring(5a). In case the ball(5b) is inserted into a neighboring groove(6b), the extruded spring returns to the position, supporting the ball(5b). A guide plate(6) combined with the ball is structured in the shape of circular tunnel. When, in the shift gear operation, the selector(5) is on a 5th change gear groove, the selector(5) cannot move to the backward shift, and the movement is limited to the scope of catching projections(6c,6d) by the 1st and the 2nd catching projections(6c,6d).
