PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high speed processing by receiving an image alternately from a first half and a latter half of a scanning line with respect to each scanning line of video signals from two cameras. SOLUTION: Cameras A, B are tilted in a direction so that optical axes are in crossing with a front side in the image pickup direction so that an image of an object is picked up to a first half of a scanning line of a pickup image by the camera A and an image of the object is picked up to a latter half of a scanning line of a pickup image by the camera B. The camera A is selected at the start of input for each scanning line and the camera B is selected when the input comes in the middle of the scanning line by a camera selector control section so as to receive an image while the image of the camera A is used for the first half of the scanning line and the image of the camera B is used for the latter half of the scanning line. Two images are entered for an image input time for one image by receiving the image with the arrangement of the cameras as above. Thus, the image input time is decreased, the capacity of the required image memory is reduced and stereo image processing to be conducted after image input is reduced. |
