PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse modulator which consumes small power and which can adjust an amplitude of each of coded pulses to a desired constant value. SOLUTION: A high voltage DC power supply 1 supplies high voltage DC power. With the power supplied from this power supply, a trigger 2 drives a switching device 5 to generate coded short pulse width modulated pulses from a pulse forming circuit 7. In generation of these pulses, the high voltage DC line voltage supplied to the pulse forming circuit 7 from the high voltage DC power supply 1 is monitored by a charging voltage monitor 12. According to the monitored data about the high voltage DC line voltage, an output adjustment circuit 11 adjusts the line voltage supplied to the pulse forming circuit 7 to a preliminarily set value. By making an adjustment to the line voltage supplied to the pulse forming circuit 7, the pulse output voltages which tend to decline can be held and controlled to specified values. Furthermore, a power loss can be eliminated by supplying additional power for the decrease of the voltage. |
