PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic purse in which the number of operation keys arranged in an operation system is reduced so as to realize an easy operation, which can easily connect with a communication system, which is convenient for carry and which is made thin and to provide an operation method. SOLUTION: The electronic purse 31 is provided with a main body operation key part 317 and a display part 312. A MODEM unit 321 is provided on the upper face of the main body part so that it can be removed. Control keys except for ten keys provided for the operation key part 317 are only a clear key, a function key, an up key, a down key and an execution key. Various functions are selectively displayed on a display part with the function key and the various functions can be executed. IC cards 10 and 10' can be inserted from the lower face of the main body or they can be inserted from the upper face through the MODEM unit. Electronic currency can be moved between the IC cards. Electronic currency can be transferred between the IC cards of a store and a bank at remote places, which are connected through MODEM and a communication line, and the self IC card 10. |
