PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To flexibly cope with the change of a key scanner code by providing a specific storage means, conversion means and conversion data preparing means. SOLUTION: A bar code reader 1 is provided with a bar code scanner 4 and a keyboard interface 5, which is connected to a computer 2 and a keyboard 3. To all the keys of the keyboard 3, respectively characteristic key scanning codes are assigned. In addition the keyboard interface 5 stores a conversion table in an incorporated memory. Then at the time of preparing a new conversion table, a user operates the keyboard 3 and pressurizes in order the key of a code and a number to be used for a bar code in a prescribed order. The key scanning code generated by this pressurizing of a key is outputted to a conversion table preparing means in order. The conversion table preparing means inputs the key scanning code in order to arrange at the prescribed position of the conversion table to prepare. |
