PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical sealed storage battery with high shock resistance and excellent high rate discharging characteristics by forming a circular groove whose interior tip bites into the outer circumference of the electrode group in the vicinity of the central part of the battery outer can into which a spirally wound electrode group is housed. SOLUTION: A positive electrode and a negative electrode are spirally wound through a separator, and an electrode group 4 obtained is housed in a cylindrical battery outer can 1. The outer can 1 is rotated, and a circular groove 6 is formed in the vicinity of the central part of the can and a circular recess 8 is formed at the upper end part with the projection parts having the specified cross section of a sealing lower die 5 and a sealing upper die 7. The circular groove 6 is preferably formed so that the tip is bitten about 0.1-0.3mm into part of the outermost circumferential electrode plate, and thereby, the spirally wound electrode group 4 is surely fixed and connected to the outer can 1 without damaging the electrode plate. An electrolyte is poured in the can 1, and a metal sealing plate 2 is crimped to the circular recess 8 through a gasket 3 having insulation and airtightness for fixing, and a cylindrical sealed storage battery is obtained. |
