It provides method for checking medium inserted into a passbook printer with only one line feed thereby enabling magnetic strip read/write and transfer printing. When medium is inserted, it discriminates whether medium is detected by the 1st and 2nd optical sensors at the same time and if undetected, it is discharged as abnormal medium, otherwise it discriminates again whether the medium is normal or not by the 3rd optical sensor. On detection it checks to see if is a looks medium as short voucher otherwise discharges. In addition, the detected medium is discerned by the 1st-4th optical sensors(Pd1-Pd4), then it is treated as medium type B, long voucher, and in case of passing through the 1st-5th optical sensors(Pd1-Pd5) it is discerned whether it has magnetic strip read/write data or not and unless it has MSRW data, it is treated as a voucher; but if it has, it is transferred to the passbook printer by the printing device.
