The spray head (6) comprises a tubular body (18) with a fan shaped array of spray nozzles (22A to 22E) arranged along the side wall of the body. The centre nozzle of the array is positioned so that its longitudinal axis is at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the spray head body. If viewed from above, the axes of the nozzles on either side of the central nozzle are at an angle to the axis of the spray head body. If viewed from the side, the axis of these nozzles are aligned above and below the axis of the central nozzle. The tips (26) of each of the nozzles incorporate a diametric slot (30). This produces a spray pattern in the form of a flat cone. The slits of alternate nozzles are at right angles to each other. A carriage is displaceable along the culture beds and a number of spray heads are arranged on it. The carriage can be provided with a post having spray heads arranged on it at different heights for spraying a number of culture beds placed one above another. |
