A novel panel fits a recess in the surrounding facia, especially in the dashboard of a motor vehicle. Bordering on the panel is a cover for an air bag, which is pressurised in a crash. The panel is invisibly held for release along and outside the air bag cover. New features include a moulded-on one-piece construction of the clip projections (13, 13') on its rear (1), by which it is secured. Corresponding clip mountings (14, 14') engage the clip projections, out of sight from the interior. Preferably the air bag cover (6) is a corner section (10) of the panel and has bordering predetermined breaking sections (8, 9) which tear away in a crash. The panel material is PC-ABS (polycarbonate acrylonitrile butadiene styrene).
