Delay time measurement method for ATM network

The method involves detecting a first resource management packet which moves in a first direction in an ATM network (1). The reception time at which the management packet is received at an ATM switch (2,3) and connection identification information are stored. The reception time of a second management packet is determined when the second packet is received. The second packet which has the same connection identification information as the stored identification information moves in the opposite direction of the first management packet. A turnround time is calculated in which a packet is received at the switch, retransmitted to an ABR (available bit rate) terminal (A,B) and returned to the switch. The reception time of the first management packet is subtracted from the reception time of the second management packet.
