The assembly (1) separates individual writing implements (4) from a pile of such implements. The individual implements (41-43) are held as a uniformly-oriented pile (40) in a buffer magazine (2) or other temporary holder. The assembly has one or more magazines and a conveyor (3) with recesses accommodating individual writing implements. The conveyer and magazine are directly linked with each other. The conveyer is an eccentric cam conveyer with stators (31) and rotors (32).
