Suction conveyor for sheets, with at least one conveyor stringer

The sheets (7) are laid on a stringer (5) moved in one direction of travel. The stringer is supported by a support surface (9). A suction chamber arrangement (11) is connected to at least one suction opening (13) and produces retention force pressing the sheets against the conveyor stringer and exerting a throttle action on the suction air current going through the suction opening. The suction chamber arrangement consists of a duct-shaped (16) interior extending in the direction of travel and possessing duct sides formed by the support (8) and by the at least one stringer. One side of the duct is at least partly open facing the sheets. The remaining duct sides with the exception of the at least one suction opening are closed.
