The method first involves a bending vibration check on the vehicle body frame. The engine mounting (1) is regulated dependant upon the vibrations of an element, which encloses a passenger cell of the vehicle, when there is a tendency to bending vibrations. The engine mounting is actively regulated dependent upon a vibration, which is transmitted from the drive unit (30) via the mounting, to the vehicle body (35), when there is no tendency to bending vibrations. The vibrations are detected by a body vibration detector, and a passenger cell vibration detector.
