The valve has a piston (14) with a reverse-tapered neck (18) engaging one of more balls (22) which act as clamping members in a cutout in a cage (20). There is a solenoid (28) and the end of the solenoid rod (30) presses against a mid-portion (36) of the cage. There is a spring (26) between the end of the cage and a shoulder (16) on the piston. There is a sleeve (24) with a thickened portion (24) surrounding the cage and held in place by a screwed plug engaging in the housing (10) of the valve.
