Detection of nucleic acids by phosphate(s) of fluorescein derivatives

Detection of an analyte (A) selected from nucleic acids, proteins and the like, comprises: (i) binding an enzyme (E) to a sample of (A); (ii) reacting a monophosphate ester (I) of a fluorescein derivative with the (E) bonded to the sample; (iii) irradiating the hydrolysate (I') of (I) (formed by the reaction with (E)) with excitation light, and (iv) detecting the fluorescence emitted by the hydrolysate. Alternatively (I) is replaced by a diphosphate ester (II) of a fluorescein derivative.
